Having to rebuild the group, they got transferred to Elton John's private label Rocket Records (still distributed by MCA) and in came Rod Bowkett (who will write most tunes on the new album) and Audience's Keith Gemmel, which will change the sound of the band since they now have two wind players. The ensuing album Extravaganza returns to the madness of their first two albums with the second side simply mind-blowing. The group will again disintegrate and will reform with original bassist Crun Walter back in the fold and Dave Lawson (ex-Web/Samurai and then-Greenslade) as a guest. Their album will a full-blown concept album describing Mr Mick's daily life and dreams. Stackridge has reformed and released a few live album around the turn of the century. Forget All About It [Todd Vocals] The Nazz was an American rock band formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, in 1967 by guitarist Todd Rundgren and bassist Carson Van Osten. Drummer Thom Mooney and vocalist/keyboardist Robert "Stewkey" Antoni joined before their first concert, opening for the Doors in 1967. They are best known for their debut single "Open My Eyes" backed with "Hello It's Me". Their name was derived from the Yardbirds' song "The Nazz Are Blue". Although the use of a definite article was intended, the band was credited simply as "Nazz" on their records and promotional materials. Between 1968 and 1970, Nazz released three albums (Nazz, Nazz Nazz, and Nazz III). Following the group's disbandment in 1969, Rundgren pursued a solo career, and in 1972, recorded a new version of "Hello It's Me" that reached number 5 on U.S. charts. Their roots were in Munich, in the late-1960's, under the guise of Wild City Brothers, they later changed name to Carnabies and then Pentagon (an odd choice for a trio). Pentagon was the first group on the small Munich label German Blues and Underground, which later on also released the two Siloah records. The first Single was supposed to be followed by an LP, but it never got beyond the acetate stage, a kind of demo pressing. A music cassette, however, was released, the simple cover of which was used for the CD. Although very young at the time, the three musicians already played respectable blues-rock, and this track featuring a flute is pure enjoyment. The tracks of side 2 of the vinyl album were taken from the master tape, the tracks of side 1 were digitally decrackled by Cedar's NoNoise system. The 28-page colour booklet contains a probably complete discography and history of the German Blues and Underground label. It's a first-class find, saved from oblivion in the very last minute. Blowing in from Chicago is an album by American jazz saxophonists Clifford Jordan and John Gilmore featuring performances recorded in 1957 and released on the Blue Note label. The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album a 5 stars. Clifford Jordan's first date as a leader actually found him sharing a heated jam session with fellow tenor John Gilmore. Backed by pianist Horace Silver, bassist Curly Russell, and drummer Art Blakey, the two saxophonists square off mostly on obscurities (other than Gigi Gryce's "Blue Lights" and "Billie's Bounce"). This was one of Gilmore's few sessions outside of Sun Ra's orbit and, if anything, he slightly overshadows the cooler-toned Jordan. Recommended.
