'Til We Meet Again Disc two leads off with seven acoustic tracks recorded in 1969 for the Duffy Power LP. While all of that material from that record is worth hearing (and was issued on CD on the 1992 release titled Blues Power), these are also quite good, subtly ingratiating folk-blues-rock, if not quite as exciting as the Innovations material. Also on hand are three slightly slicker, but still satisfying, early-'70s tracks with full arrangements, produced by ex-Zombies Rod Argent and Chris White (and previously available on the CD compilation Just Say Blue). There are also three previously unreleased tracks, all Power originals, from 1970 recordings on which he was backed by Keith Tippett's group -- of those, "Dr. Love" has a slight funk feel, while the more impressive "Holiday" and "Love Song" blend pleasing jazz, blues, and folk accents with Power's effectively gentle vocals and tender compositions. Finally, the CD concludes with four previously unreleased tracks from 1991-2002 -- again, all Power originals -- that, refreshingly, find him sticking to the understated arrangements and genre-blending rootsy compositions that suit his style best. Colin Harper's extensive liner notes supply extensive background information on the recordings, the booklet also includes rare photos from throughout Power's career. Love Games Line-up:: Peter Rietmann - Bass Guitar, Vocals Kurt (Dude) Durst - Drums, Vocals Rolf Antener - Lead Guitar, Vocals Little Fritz - Organ, Piano Toni Vescoli - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals One of Mickie Most's numerous UK successes on the RAK Records label in the 70s, this pop outfit was formed in 1976 from the ashes of the unsuccessful Phoenix Press. The line-up featured Richard Gower (b. 1955, Hackney, London, England; vocals/keyboards), Phil Fursdon (vocals/guitar), Pete Miller (vocals/bass) and Clive Wilson (vocals/drums). After playing extensively round the pub circuits, an early supporter called Steve Matthews brought Racey to the attention of Most in London. He quickly signed them after hearing a demo, and they released their debut 'Baby It's You', written by Chris Norman and Pete Spencer of Smokie, which narrowly missed the charts. However, they got their hit with second single, 'Lay Your Love On Me' (written by Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn), which rose to number 3 in the UK charts in early 1979. Another Chapman/Chinn composition 'Some Girls' went one place better in March, but after two more Top 30 hits, including a cover version of Dion's 'Runaround Sue', the race was over. Lead singer Richard Gower worked as a songwriter for RAK during the 80s before re-forming Racey in the early 90s. This line-up of the band recorded several new songs for 1995's Say Wow! Greatest & Latest. They remain a popular draw on the European nostalgia circuit. Download links: [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]
  4. Artist: The Australian Jazz Quintet Title: Selections Of Rodgers & Hammerstein Year Of Release: 1957 [2014] Label: Solid Records / Bethlehem [CDSOL-6145] Genre: Jazz Quality: FLAC (*tracks + .cue, log) Total Time: 00:37:19 Total Size: 462 mb (+3%rec.) The music of Rodgers & Hammerstein gets a very groovy twist here - thanks to the mighty talents of the Australian Jazz Quintet! The group have a great mix of instruments - both the vibes of Jack Brokensha and piano of Bryce Rhodes, and the intertwining reeds of Erroll Buddle and Dick Healey - both players who've learned a lot from the west coast scene of the early 50s, and really know how to get creative with their phrasing and solos! The vibes often give the tunes a nicely moody feel - one that's underscored even more by the reeds on some of the more exotic tunes - and titles include "The Gentleman Is A Dope", "Do I Love You", "Wonderful Guy", "Hello Young Lovers", and "March Of The Siamese Children". Tracks: 01 - Surrey With The Fringe On Top 02 - March Of The Siamese Children 03 - Hello Young Lovers 04 - I Have Dreamed 05 - People Will Say We're In Love 06 - Gentleman Is A Dope 07 - Do I Love You (Because You're Beautiful) 08 - Younger Than Springtime 09 - Wonderful Guy 10 - If I Loved You Personnel: Jack Brokensha - vibes Errol Buddle - tenor sax, bassoon Ed Gaston - bass Bryce Rohde - piano Dick Healey - alto sax, flute Frank Capp - drums Osie Johnson - drums Jerry Segal - drums Download links: [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]
  5. Artist: The Dave Brubeck Quartet Title: At Carnegie Hall Year Of Release: 1963/2001 Label: Columbia/Legacy Genre: Jazz Quality: 320 kbps | FLAC (tracks) Total Time: 01:45:28 Total Size: 244 mb | 679 mb Tracklist: CD1 01. St. Louis Blues (Live) 02. Bossa Nova U.S.A. (Live) 03. For All We Know (Live) 04. Pennies From Heaven (Live) 05. Southern Scene (Live) 06. Three To Get Ready (Live) CD2 01. Eleven Four (Live) 02. It'S A Raggy Waltz (Live) 03. King For A Day (Live) 04. Castilian Drums (Live) 05. Blue Rondo A La Turk (Live) 06. Take Five (Live) For all those who have a big axe to grind with Brubeck, for all those who claim the band was only successful because they were predominantly white, or played pop-jazz, or catered to the exotica craze, or any of that, you are invited to have all of your preconceptions, tepid arguments, and false impressions hopelessly torn to shreds by one of the great live jazz albums of the 1960s. The Dave Brubeck Quartet at Carnegie Hall is a date that showcases the finest elements of the storied Brubeck Quartet, which featured, alongside Brubeck's piano, alto innovator Paul Desmond, bassist Eugene Wright, and Joe Morello on drums. On this February night in 1963 either the 21 or 22nd depending on which side of the cover you believe W.C. Handy's "St. Louis Blues" was given a knotty rhythmic workout it had never seen on Basin or Bourbon Street. Time signatures moved and shifted all over the tune for 12 minutes as Brubeck and Desmond exchanged cross-contrapuntal solos and melodic inventions back and forth. Movement, and plenty of it, was the identity this old nugget took on, with Brubeck taking Wright's cue and moving the blues into unheard-of harmonic spaces and intervals. At one point, with 16/4 time forcing itself onto the front line, Desmond makes his move quickly with one scalular interval to the top of the meter and stops. It's enough, he seems to be saying, that it gets brought back to a humane tempo before clamoring from a samba back into the blues before winding it out. And that's just for openers! The quartet move through all their hits and their new instincts gained from traveling abroad for the better part of six years. With cuts like "Bossa Nova U.S.A" and "Blue Rondo a la Turk," the quartet breathes new fire both melodically and tonally into its material, while other standards such as "Pennies from Heaven" were literally harmonically reinvented by the intense counterpoint, double and even triple, that went on between Desmond and Brubeck. And that's what this set is a reflection of: the Brubeck band would have loved to be recorded live every night they played. They hated the studio because there was nothing to compete against and no energy but their own to glean from. Check out "Eleven Four" and see where the audience in stuffy old Carnegie Hall is transformed into a hooting mob as Desmond solos his head off. When Brubeck pulls Ravel out of his back pocket and Wright accommodates him, setting a samba tempo for him to play against, the crowd may not know what they are hearing, but they flip just the same; they know something's happening and they're right there to experience his past harmonic indulgence mixed with the contrapuntal bop syntax from Desmond. It's no surprise that "Take Five" would take the set out, but given what has been played over two LPs, it's almost a comfort. There are fewer surprises here, it's true, but then, the tune's a groover anyway, and they grease it to the point of making it funky thanks to Wright's slapping at his bass in the middle section. This LP is perhaps the one essential Brubeck live album. While Take Five is rightfully a classic in that it changed everything, At Carnegie Hall reveals the band at the epitome of its musical harmonic, rhythmic, melodic, improvisational strength with near telepathic communication. It swings like a mother and offers an entirely new dimension to the definition of "melodic improvisation." Download links: [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]

Bassist Bobby Ray, meanwhile, was a seasoned session player who had participated in Donovan's legendary May 1966 sessions in LA, resulting in songs including the classic Season Of The Witch. They teamed up with guitarist James Smith in 1967, and Smith and Ray began to write commercial songs together that reflected an interest in both folk and psychedelia. Before Big Brother, Ernie Joseph was known as Ernie Orosco and formed several Santa Barbara outfits including Ernie and The Emperors, Ernie's Funnys and Giant Crab. Big Brother Feat. Ernie Joseph - Confusion: Influenced by the guitar sounds of Hendrix, Cream and Jeff Beck, The Bill Holmes produced Confusion is an incendiary classic of British blues style guitar rock. The band, not to be confused with the similarly named and of course more popular Big Brother and the Holding Company made a name for themselves as a great live performance, often encouraging audience participation. Their on stage energy comes across well on the record, resulting in a loose charismatic album that only slows down long enough to sing a serenade on "Wake Me In The Morning." The rest blisters through with searing guitar virtuosity from Ernie Joseph and an organ sound that shows no signs of prog's impending overindulgence. A rock record from start to finish. 13. Ramblin' On My Mind 23. Steppin' Out 24. It Ain't Right Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton was Eric Clapton's first fully realized album as a blues guitarist more than that, it was a seminal blues album of the 1960s, perhaps the best British blues album ever cut, and the best LP ever recorded by John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Standing midway between Clapton's stint with the Yardbirds and the formation of Cream, this album featured the new guitar hero on a series of stripped-down blues standards, Mayall pieces, and one Mayall/Clapton composition, all of which had him stretching out in the idiom for the first time in the studio. This album was the culmination of a very successful year of playing with John Mayall, a fully realized blues creation, featuring sounds very close to the group's stage performances, and with no compromises. Credit has to go to producer Mike Vernon for the purity and simplicity of the record; most British producers of that era wouldn't have been able to get it recorded this way, much less released. One can hear the very direct influence of Buddy Guy and a handful of other American bluesmen in the playing. And lest anyone forget the rest of the quartet: future pop/rock superstar John McVie and drummer Hughie Flint provide a rock-hard rhythm section, and Mayall's organ playing, vocalizing, and second guitar are all of a piece with Clapton's work. His guitar naturally dominates most of this record, and he can also be heard taking his first lead vocal, but McVie and Flint are just as intense and give the tracks an extra level of steel-strung tension and power, none of which have diminished across several decades. Around June 1968, they were joined by Judy Dyble on vocals (only for about a month), and Ian McDonald on sax, keyboards and vocals. As a quintet they made several home recordings, including the later much-appraised "I Talk To The Wind". In their time, Giles Giles and Fripp managed to release one full album and two singles, which didn't sell well yet were considered quite interesting by the then music press. Between November 1968 and January 1969, the remaining members (omitting Peter Giles) were joined by Greg Lake, and later by roadie Peter Sinfield, and changed their name to King Crimson. The roster of permanent and guest musicians spread over their four albums is impressive: Morris Pert, Phil Collins, Ric Parnell (IBIS, ATOMIC ROOSTER), Narrada Michael Walden (SANTANA) and Franco Lo Previte (CIRCUS 2000, DUELLO MADRE) f{ and that only covers the drums & percussion department. Other contributors include keyboard player Renato Rosset (NEW TROLLS ATOMIC SYSTEM), classical conga virtuoso Zakir Hussain and three bassists: Percy Jones, Barry Johnson (Lenny White's band TWENNYNINE) and Luciano Milanese. As you will have guessed by now, their sound a lot like BRAND X (note that NOVA are not totally instrumental but their vocals are kept to a minimum). They released four albums between 1976 and 1978. ¡§Blink¡¨, being the first, is not as polished as the others but still offers lengthy jams with sumptuous guitar/sax dialogues. The more mature "Vimana", a Robert Lumley production, focuses on compositions rather than technical wizardry and is considered their best; among other goodies, it showcases bassist Percy Jones¡¦ pleasantly fluid fretless style as well as guitarist Danilo Rustici who truly shines throughout (echoes of John McLaughlin, Al DiMeola, John Goodsall and Larry Coryell come to the mind). With "Wings of Love", the band seemed to take a new direction, what with the shorter track format and in particular bassist Barry Johnson¡¦s funky style, so different from Percy Jones¡¦. Their final release, "Sun City", features still shorter tracks and an even funkier edge, the overall feel approaching mainstream jazz rock. No matter which one you pick, however, all albums are packed with tension, rhythmic energy and technical brilliance. A treat for all fusion enthusiasts. Highly recommended to fans of BRAND X, RETURN TO FOREVER, WEATHER REPORT and BILL BRUFORD. Download links: [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]

New Mexico, in that sense, was a more conventional grouping. They shared credits with the bands of the moment (Arbol, Dug Dugs, Three Souls in My Mind), but they differed in their approach to rock: they tended toward the classic progressive and in the fonkys holes this music was not what most people asked for . But the quartet got an interesting alchemy: it could be handled in the strictly rocker scope and oscillate into the symphonism without becoming radical. Ray Charles - Deep in the Heart of Texas 25. Ray Charles - Together Ray Charles was the musician most responsible for developing soul music. Singers like Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson also did a great deal to pioneer the form, but Charles did even more to devise a new form of black pop by merging '50s R&B with gospel-powered vocals, adding plenty of flavor from contemporary jazz, blues, and (in the '60s) country. Then there was his singing; his style was among the most emotional and easily identifiable of any 20th century performer, up there with the likes of Elvis and Billie Holiday. He was also a superb keyboard player, arranger, and bandleader. The brilliance of his 1950s and '60s work, however, can't obscure the fact that he made few classic tracks after the mid-'60s, though he recorded often and performed until the year before his death. 23. Artist: Pierre Fournier Title: Dvorak, Elgar: : Cello Concertos Year Of Release: 1962, 1967 [2017] Label: Tower Records [PROC-2025] Genre: Classical Quality: DSD64 image (*.iso) | FLAC (24bit/88,2 kHz) Total Time: 01:05:01 Total Size: 1,7 GB / 1,1 GB (+3%rec.) New mastering of the Fournier Eternal Masterpiece from the basic master in the home country. Elegant masterpiece Elgar is the world's first SA-CD! Pierre Fournier, a famous French cellist, was nicknamed "Prince of Cello" for his graceful performance and sophisticated manners. He boasted a wide repertoire from Bach to contemporary songs, but in 1966 he said, "I like romantic and Impressionist music. I think ultra-modern works." I love the work of people who have blossomed modern personality on the basis of traditional beauty. "(From the Mainichi Shimbun January 11, 1966, evening edition, culture side). This SA-CD hybrid version contains two romantic works he liked. The Berlin Philharmonic, whose first appearance on January 11, 1939, was so successful that it became the name of Fournier throughout Europe, also enhances the value of this one. Dvorak's session took place from 1 to 3 June 1961 under the command of Cell. A look at the Berlin Philharmonic record shows that there were no concerts in the vicinity of this date that featured Cer and Fournier, and they gathered purely for the session. Elgar's session took place October 20-23, 1966, but there are no Warrenstein or Fournier appearances in this area. Dvorak was recorded for 3 days and Elgar was recorded for 4 days without any trouble in the concert, and the performance and recording were extremely beautiful. Fournier's stagnation-free phrasing, richness and calming beauty are kept throughout. Although the singing and lyrical features are well-produced, the expressions and forms do not lose their neatness. The more beautiful and strongly persuasive performance, without excessive expression, proves his "prince". In addition, ears that are accustomed to listening to cello recordings in recent years will also feel the changing taste of the times for cello sound. Recent cello recordings tend to record the sound sharply, probably because of the technical level of the performers and the expression has become more detailed, but the rich sound of Fournier here is captured straightforwardly The recorded sound will allow you to enjoy the original charm of a cello. For the conductor, the stable rod handling, taking advantage of the heavy sound of the Warren Stein's Berlin Philharmonic at Elgar, is also great, but after all, the cell at Dvorak is a must-see. It seems that the nostalgia of the composer and the nostalgia of the cell, such as the rich tone of the horn and the rich singing of the second theme of the first movement, are coming in as a double reflection. Looking at the Berlin Philharmonic's performance record, Sel's first appearance was 19 on December 19, 1916. It's a year earlier than the older Furtwangler's first appearance. A successful cell in the United States after the war, it is also a sound proof that his musical hometown is in Central Europe. These recordings are separated by four years, but are characterized by being slightly larger in sound image with the soloist standing in front. It is interesting to note that this is different from the trend of Dvorak, which Karajan recorded with Rostropovich, and it is interesting that there is a difference in thinking among engineers and producers. The recording of Fournier recorded with thick and heavy sound is wonderful even in modern times, and with this latest reprint you can enjoy the masterpieces of this century with clearer and more affordable sounds than ever before. In particular, the sound of Elgar, which has not been released on SA-CD, is particularly noteworthy. ~Google Interpreter Tracks: Antonin Dvořák Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104 01. 1st.mov.: Allegro 02. 2nd.mov.: Adagio ma non troppo 03. 3rd. mov.: Finale. Artist: Carl Schuricht Title: Schumann: Symphony No.3 Year Of Release: 1960, 1962 [2016] Label: Tower Records [TWSA-1007] Genre: Classical Quality: DSD64 image (*.iso) | FLAC (24bit/88,2 kHz) Total Time: 00:48:50 Total Size: 1,3 GB / 883 mb (+3%rec.) The deified Schuricht Schumann is combined with small pieces to make SACD. A faithful reproduction of the analog master! The CD layer recurs with a new remastering that is different from the conventional version! SAW hybrid specification board of TWCO-47 released on August 9, 2013 (CD layer is another mastering). A hybrid SACD of a performance that Schuricht left on a concert hall label. With SACD, you can enjoy high-quality sound very close to the master tape. In addition, the CD layer has been remastered with DENON genuine equipment from analog master tape this time, so you can enjoy sound quality different from the previously released board. This CD layer is positioned as an extra to enjoy more music. As a "plus alpha", it is a limited edition that can be enjoyed by those who have a conventional CD. This second release will release a total of three titles. Schulicht, who excels at German-Austrian descent from Mozart to Beethoven and Bruckner. Among them, the depth and clarity of Schumann's knowledge and skills are almost as good as Mozart and Bruckner, which Schuricht conducts. In the reissue CD released in 2013, in addition to the conventional two songs, the overture of "Windsor's cheerful wife" is newly recorded. The mastering effect with high sound quality allows you to hear Schuricht's intentions more clearly. Speaking of Schuricht's Schumann, it is also hard to forget the 2nd & `` Line '' performance of the DECCA board (Paris Conservatory) recorded in 1952 & '53 (it is on sale as PROC 1701 in another series), but this 1960 The "line" of the recording is precious even if the sound source is left in stereo anyway, and there is a Schuricht's unique interpretation of this board only. Its clarity and passion for this song are extraordinary. At first glance, you may get a modest and pale impression, but there is no other performance that gives a high density and a kind of freshness, which is one of the elements that Schuricht attracts many listeners Isn't it? In addition to the original coupling ("Manfred" overture), "Windsor's hilarious wife" is newly recorded. This is also a rich performance that I can not imagine as a small item. The sound quality that was well received at the last CD release was further upgraded in the SACD layer. You can enjoy the vividness and delicate sound of stringed instruments. ~Google Interpreter Tracks: 1-6. Schumann: Symphony No. 3; Manfred Overture 7. She opts to hook up Jackie Crew and Audrey Swinburne now formerly of Cosmetix, and through and ad in Melody Maker New Zealand musician Lesley Sly becomes the final member of the new band, and following a long session involving substantial amounts of alcohol they come up with the band name Mother Superior. The band is actively gigging whenever and wherever they can, performing in pubs, at air-force bases and later on a number of gigs in Central Europe follows. While they do build up a regular fanbase, the UK record labels aren't overly keen on signing this all girl band. As bassist Jackie Brewster revealed in her blog: "One night at the Golden Lion, the place is rammed with an audience of men and women, Sony have sent an A and R man down who says to us after two encores, that he can't see who our market is, women would be jealous of us and men wouldn't buy our records because their girlfriends wouldn't like it. " At that point in time this isn't a great concern for the band. They have recorded their debut album in the usual manner of a new band their label doesn't really think too much of - late night sessions handled by inexperienced studio techs promising that "it will be all right in the mix". The album is subsequently released on a small Swedish label attached to their own label Polydor, which does give the band a good reason to tour Scandinavia the following year. That their label chose to call the album "Lady Madonna" just one more decision made that wasn't approved by the band members. Following extensive gigging, a label not really believing in the band, the usual on the road hassles and management problems, line-up alterations and day to day problems became the order of the day for Mother Superior. They decided to call it quits in 1977, their final gig performed on December 9th. Download links: [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]
