  1. Artist: The Aggrolites Title: Dirty Reggae Year Of Release: 2019 Label: Pirates Press Records Genre: Reggae Quality: FLAC (tracks) Total Time: 55:20 Total Size: 257 MB This is the album that started it all. Cock Sparrer has Shock Troops. Rancid has Let's Go. The Aggrolites have Dirty Reggae; and off the back of this album emerged a scene embracing that term itself, that would grow to be bigger than the band could ever be. Dirty Reggae is now in-and-of-itself a category of Reggae that has taken the world by storm over the past decade-and-a-half. 15 years after the original release of this pinnacle record, Pirates Press Records and Axe Records have teamed up to repress Dirty Reggae, and make it widely available to all those who haven't been able to find this classic for a long time! Nobody could've guessed at the time, preparing an assembly of musicians to support classic reggae artist Derrick Morgan, that the project would lead to a band that has truly changed the face of Reggae. As with other classic albums, from the moment the needle touches down, the music takes the listener to a special place; in this case, one that has and continues to inspire others to build upon what this integral band has started. This 'standard' version brings this truly important record back into press, in a way that can be accessible to a whole new generation of Reggae (and vinyl) lovers across the globe. 01. Maoli - Sense of Purpose (2019)

Artist: Maoli Title: Sense of Purpose Year Of Release: 2019 Label: Awong Entertainment, LLC Genre: Reggae Quality: FLAC (tracks) Total Time: 35:56 Total Size: 234 MB Biography Maoli (meaning "Native" in Hawaiian) started in Maui with Glenn Awong, a 14-year-old with a passion for music, and Kana Akiu-Corpuz. In their sophomore year, the aspiring vocalist and bassist began writing original music at the encouragement of their high school teacher. It was also during this time that Glenn started recording demos of his songs. By the time, he reached his senior year, Glenn was ready to share his music with a greater audience. In 2005, Glenn and the band he formed, "No Boundaries", won a Battle of the Bands competition on the island of Maui. With numerous performances already under his belt, Glenn then formed Maoli in 2008 with a new lineup of talented musicians, including bassist, Kana. Maoli took the islands by storm with their debut album, "Groovin," having one hit after the next. This was the groundbreaking album that first established the group as a premiere Hawaiian Island Reggae recording band. In 2010 and 2012, Maoli did it again with their 2nd adn 3rd releases. "Rock Easy" and "Arise" featured another treasure trove of #1 hits taking them to national and international audiences exploring Maoli's love for various genres of music. Maoli's road to success continued as they toured the islands and the world promoting their very own unique Island sound. With many more newer releases such as the "Is This Love" from the "One Eighty" EP, "Sweet Remedy" and "Sweetest Sound," Maoli stays true to their roots as their style continuously evolves. 01. Ozuna - Odisea (2017)

Artist: Ozuna Title: Odisea Year Of Release: 2017 Label: Vp Records Genre: Reggae, Latin, World Quality: FLAC (tracks+.cue+.log) Total Time: 57:57 min Total Size: 379 MB Odisea finds Ozuna on a late-night creep, laying down a gently bumping soundtrack for after-parties around the globe. It's a collection of slow jams that glide by like dreamy R&B hits, except these beats are built from the raw throb of Latin trap ("Una Flor") and the rattling thump of reggaeton ("Pide Lo Que Tú Quieras"). Ozuna drops softly murmured soul hooks and bars that bristle with bad-boy charm, all while the synths twinkle and the drums patter like a music box's lullaby. Roachee, Prince Rapid and Dirty Danger) [2:44] 11. Future Brown - Wanna Party (feat. Tink) AllMusic Review by Andy Kellman There is an abundance of talent in Future Brown, a production crew that consists of Asma Maroof and Daniel Pinieda (aka Nguzunguzu), Fatima Al-Qadiri, and J-Cush. The first three are responsible for some of the best releases on revered labels like Fade to Mind and UNO, while Cush has operated Lit City Trax. Equally notable is the long list of rappers and singers the group snared for its self-titled Warp album -- one that combines established underground figures and upcoming commercial artists. Likewise, the group amalgamates a head-spinning variety of intensely rhythmic, street-level club music styles: footwork, grime, bass, reggaeton, commercial R&B and rap sounds, even cumbia. The mere thought of a project with this wide a scope is tantalizing, but the results are stilted and clinical more frequently than they are energizing. Most of the tracks, ranging from the bony "Wanna Party" (featuring Chicago's Timbaland-supported Tink) to the dry "Vernáculo" (with Mad Decent associate Maluca), are designed as party anthems. A rare diversion, "Dangerzone," is a wispy ballad that involves Ian Isiah and Kelela but is nowhere near as stimulating as the productions Maroof and Pinieda granted to the latter singer's Cut 4 Me. From their inspirations to their choices in collaborators -- the inclusion of underappreciated rapid-fire rapper Shawnna alone is particularly laudable -- Future Brown clearly know what to synthesize and how to select. The whole here, however, is less than the sum of its parts. Download links: [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]

    i-taweh - Reload (2020)

Artist: i-taweh Title: Reload Year Of Release: 2019 Label: Tap Nat Muzik Genre: World; Reggae Quality: MP3 320 kbps; FLAC (tracks) Total Time: 1:09:11 Total Size: 161; 453 MB Donavan I-taweh Cunningham was born in the hills of St. Ann, Jamaica to Rupert and Ruby Cunningham. Like most successful artists, he comes from humble beginnings. Raised in the farming community of Prickly Pole, just a few miles from the home where Bob Marley grew in Nine Mile, he spent most of his childhood farming alongside his father and four siblings. As a young child he played music on handmade instruments crafted together from bamboo and sardine tins, only getting the chance to try out proper instruments in church when someone with a real guitar would finally set it down. Realizing her brother's love for music, his sister with combined efforts from their mother, saved her money to buy him his first guitar. For high school he moved from the country to St. Ann's Bay, where he lived on the same street as Burning Spear, and enlisted in the Ocho Rios High School band. They came second in the All Schools Competition in Kingston, giving him the confidence to move to the city to pursue music. It was his move to Kingston in 1992 that began his musical career. Rarely seen without carrying his guitar, he was given the nickname Danny Gitz. Along with the name, his skill and reputation as an outstanding guitarist began to grow. During the early nineties the legendary Sugar Minott took him under his wing where he eventually became Sugar's band leader. I-taweh attributes Sugar to making him the musician he is today- "Sugar was like a father to me. He was the roughest, but at the same time the kindest, sweetest person. On stage he would let you know in front of thousands of people if you were messing up, but at the same time when you had it he always let us know too and made you feel good. He had a real sense of pride in his music and he was the first real reggae star who as a youth made we feel we were good enough. No matter how good you are, if you don't get the chance to show it - what can you do? He was one of the first people who made me believe in myself as a serious musician." In 1994 he became part of the band High Symbol and after a tour landed in Australia with them. It was in in Australia that I-taweh began singing lead vocals here and there, and gaining some confidence as a front man. In 1998 I-taweh became the youngest member of Count Ossie's original Nyabhingi group, Mystic Revelation of Rastafari. Until 2007 he extensively toured Europe with the group where they are well known for their traditional Jamaican folk music and workshops which they held at Universities. In France, he began collaboration with reggae group Broussai which led to studio sessions in hotel rooms and the beginnings of tracks that he later used on his first album Overload. Not only was I-taweh in demand for live performances, his incredible versatility and precision on guitar and bass kept him in high demand in the studio as well. During the 90's he recorded with artists such as: Sade, Capleton, Morgan Heritage, Sugar Minott, Luciano, Lenky Roy, and Iqulah. It was with Everton Blender, as the guitarist for the Blend Dem Band, that he came to the U.S. during 2004. After the tour, he went on to be the bassist for the Yellow Wall Dub Squad, a major backing band for Jamaican artists in the U.S. Billed as Itawe and often referred to as the Reggae Lion, he quickly gained popularity as the singing bassist opening for artists such as Sister Carol, Prezident Brown, the Abyssinians, Yami Bolo, Half Pint, the Mighty Diamonds, and the Melodians. In 2009, after 17 years of being a supporting musician, I-taweh took a hiatus from the road and began to pursue his solo album. In 2011 he released his independently composed, written, and produced first album named Overload under his own label Tap Nat MuziK. In December 2011 I-taweh performed songs from his debut release at his launch party at Wickie Wackie in Bull Bay, Jamaica, as part of a great journey through Jamaica's radio and media landscape. I-taweh formed the band the Reggae Lions for the launch event enlisting veterans Nambo Robinson on trombone along with Everton Gayle on saxophone and Time aka Count Ossie Jr. on percussion. Selections from the Overload album and the Overload single have received significant airplay on numerous stations in Jamaica and both have become a 2011-2012 hit, reaching #1 on the Hot 102 FM chart. In the U.S., the Overload album has been very well-received at traditional reggae radio, college and syndicated programs and was selected to be part of the Direct TV cable network's menu of reggae material where several songs are in regular rotation. There has been considerable attention at radio and TV for Overload and the song has become popular with people of all ages. With his all-star band, the Reggae Lions, he is currently touring and captivating audiences all over the world with his moving lyrics, confident stage presence, and phenomenal talent. I-taweh's unique and original sound comes from his Jamaican roots influence combined with inspirations from his travels abroad. His music is diverse and reflects his passion for Human Rights and Social Justice. Whether performing acoustic guitar with a stand- up bass, or with his full ten piece band, he is quickly winning the hearts of his listeners everywhere and continuously leaves his audience wanting more! 01. i-taweh - Danger Zone (4:34) 02. i-taweh - Reggae Lion (3:58) 03. i-taweh - Another Bram Bram (4:40) 04. i-taweh - One Day (4:29) 05. i-taweh - Home Sweet Home (4:07) 06. i-taweh - Sunshine In My Eyes (4:13) 07. i-taweh - Rolling Stone (4:50) 08. i-taweh - No Mediocre Vybz (4:10) 09. i-taweh - Reload (Dub Vocal Mix) (4:17) 10. i-taweh - Not Just In Memories (3:31) 11. i-taweh - Reggae Greetings (Vybz Mix) (4:02) 12. i-taweh - Jah Will (4:08) 13. i-taweh - Code Red (We Tired) (5:29) 14. i-taweh - Reload (Dub) (4:17) 15. i-taweh - No Mediocre Dub (4:10) 16. i-taweh - Reload (4:17) Download links: [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]

  18. Artist: Sarathy Korwar Title: Coolie Year Of Release: 2019 Label: The Leaf Label Genre: Jazz; dub; world and improvised music Quality: 16-bit/44.1kHz FLAC; 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC Total Time: 21:32 Total Size: 139; 248 MB Born in the US, Sarathy Korwar grew up in Ahmedabad and Chennai in India. He began playing tabla aged 10, but was also drawn to the American music that he heard on the radio and leaking through the doorway of his local jazz music shop (Ahmad Jamal and John Coltrane were early discoveries). At 17, Korwar moved to Pune to study Environmental Science, but instead dedicated his time to music, practising tabla under the tutelage of Rajeev Devasthali, translating his skills to the western drum kit and playing as a session musician. On completing these studies a decade ago, he moved to London where he trained as a classical tabla player under the guidance of Sanju Sahai at SOAS (The School of Oriental and African Studies), focusing on the adaptation of Indian classical rhythmic material to non-Indian percussion instruments. Korwar has since established himself as one of the most original and compelling voices in the UK jazz scene, leading the UPAJ Collective - a loose band of South Asian jazz and Indian classical musicians brought together through a love of collaboration and improvisation who set up a residency at the Jazz Café in London. Korwar has collaborated with the likes of Shabaka Hutchings (The Comet Is Coming), clarinettist Arun Ghosh and producer Hieroglyphic Being, as well as groups Penya and Ill Considered. He has toured with Kamasi Washington, Yussef Kamaal and Moses Boyd. Korwar's daring debut album, Day To Day, recorded with the support of the Steve Reid Foundation, was released by Ninja Tune in 2016. The album fused traditional folk music recorded with the Sidi community in India (combining East African, Sufi and Indian influences) with contemporary jazz and electronics. In November 2018, Gearbox Records released a triple vinyl live album by Sarathy Korwar and UPAJ Collective. My East Is Your West, performed and recorded at a sold out Church of Sound show, is a brilliant and unique blend of London's new jazz talent with Indian classical instrumentation. A critically-acclaimed take on the cultural appropriation of 'spiritual' Indo-jazz, the three hour show was recorded following a single 45-minute rehearsal. The resulting album was awarded The Guardian's Contemporary Album of the Month. Korwar releasee his second studio album, More Arriving, through The Leaf Label in July 2019. With this latest release, Korwar blasts out his own vibrant, pluralistic narrative for the world to hear. This is not necessarily a record of unity; it is an honest reflection of Korwar's experience of being an Indian in Britain, and as such is a leap forward from his previous releases, incorporating rappers from Mumbai and New Delhi, spoken word and his own Indian classical and jazz performances. More Arriving is a record born of confrontation; one for our confrontational times. 01. Sarathy Korwar - Coolie (5:25) 02. Sarathy Korwar - Coolie (Dennis Bovell Dub) (5:30) 03. My Country Is Beautiful Frank Jahloh (pronounced Jar-Law), guitarist, composer and producer has put together a rich and inspired collection of songs featuring beautiful African voices from around the world giving this album its unique flavour and creative momentum. The guitar is Frank's main instrument and it is amazing that he started playing the instrument after a car crash. His right hand was injured and as part of his rehabilitation and physiotherapy treatment, he started finger picking on the guitar and this activity helped him to grow stronger. This was the beginning of a lifelong dedication to guitar playing and making music. To grow stronger is a theme Frank explores on this album. Guitar lessons with celebrated Jazz guitarist Esmond Selwyn endowed Frank with great insight into Jazz. Frank's influences go beyond Jazz though as having grown up in Freetown, Sierra Leone, he was influenced by a vast array of African and popular music. In addition, living in multi-cultural London with its multitude of musical styles, has left an indelible impression and this is reflected in the eclecticism of African Love Affair. Jamie Lidell - Game For Fools (Mara Carlyle Ukulady Mix) AllMusic Review by AllMusic While U.K. techno maven Jamie Lidell's early releases explored the outer fringes of the nascent mid-90's experimental techno scene, by 2000 he had morphed into an authentic soul vocalist as one half of the duo Supercollider. MULTIPLY EDITIONS presents remixed or otherwise reworked versions from his breakthrough 2005 solo album, MULTIPLY. The remixes, though, never distract from the gruff Otis Redding-styled vocal inflections of Lidell, whose powerful performances take center stage. The collection features the talents of such contemporaries as Herbert, Luke Vibert, and Gonzalez--all of whom lend their distinctive sonic imprint to the proceedings. The tracks are reimagined as everything from skeletal funk in the vein of Prince to piano-driven numbers, as in the rousing 12-bar blues of "Multiply (In a Minor Key)." Surprising and unexpected, MULTIPLY EDITIONS is a remix album that will have soul-music pundits wondering if it's real or if it's Memorex. Download links: [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]

  23. Artist: Jackie Mittoo Title: Reggae Master (Bunny 'Striker' Lee 50th Anniversary Edition) Year Of Release: 2019 Label: Gorgon Recordings Genre: reggae, dub Quality: MP3 320 kbps; FLAC (tracks) Total Time: 36:12 Total Size: 87; 213 MB Keyboard virtuoso Jackie Mittoo was among the true legends of reggae -- a founding member of the Skatalites and an extraordinarily prolific songwriter, he was perhaps most influential as a mentor to countless younger performers, primarily through his work as the musical director at the famed Studio One. Born Donat Roy Mittoo in Browns Town, Jamaica on March 3, 1948, he began playing keyboards at the age of four, and was rarely far from a piano through his teen years, performing professionally in groups including the Vagabonds and the Vikings. He frequently skipped school to play with the house band at nearby Federal Studios, and it was there that he met producer Coxsone Dodd, who recruited Mittoo for recording sessions when the scheduled pianist failed to appear on time. While attending Kingston College, he began jamming with fellow student Augustus Pablo, and they eventually formed a trio -- the Jackie Mitree -- which performed his original compositions. By 1962, Mittoo was earning attention across the island for his work in the band the Sheiks, one of Jamaica's most sought-after club attractions. Despite rechristening themselves the Cavaliers Orchestra, their popularity continued to soar without missing a beat. When Dodd opened Studio One in Kingston in 1963, he tapped Mittoo to serve as musical director; in the years to follow he played on virtually every disc the studio produced, arranging much of the material and helping develop new songs until they were sufficiently polished to meet standards. By the early months of 1964, he set about forming a new band with Studio One session regulars Tommy McCook, Lloyd Brevette, and Lester Sterling, as well as the Cavaliers' Lloyd Knibb and Johnny Moore. Dubbing themselves the Skatalites, they were to become the quintessential ska band of the period; also featuring the legendary trombonist Don Drummond, the group lasted just 14 months -- from June 1964 to August 1965 -- but their influence on music worldwide remains incalculable. After the Skatalites split, Mittoo began a solo career, scoring a major hit with his rendition of the Heptones' "Fatty Fatty." The instrumental smash "Ram Jam" followed in 1967, and resulted in a series of instrumental LPs, among them In London, Evening Time, Keep on Dancing, Now, and Macka Fat. At the same time, Mittoo continued his relentless pace at Studio One -- according to the terms of his basic arrangement with Dodd, he received payment upon delivering five new rhythms a week, which over the years resulted in literally thousands of compositions which he both produced and arranged. Among Mittoo's greatest contributions of the mid- to late '60s were "Darker Shade of Black" (the basis for Frankie Paul's "Pass the Tu Sheng Peng"), Freddie McGregor's "Bobby Babylon," Alton Ellis' "I'm Still in Love with You," the Cables' "Feel Like Jumping" and the rocksteady anthem "Baby Why," and Marcia Griffiths' first hit. In 1970, his "Peanie Wallie" was also versioned by the Wailers, becoming the hit "Duppy Conqueror." Mittoo relocated from Jamaica to Toronto, Ontario in 1968, one of many reggae performers who found a home among the clubs lining the city's Yonge Street area. He returned to Kingston regularly, however, and was closely aligned with Dodd and Studio One throughout the decades to follow. In Toronto, Mittoo also accepted a day job working for the Canadian Talent Library, an organization which worked to ensure that a sufficient amount of Canadian music was broadcast over national radio airwaves. By 1972, he had lived there for four years, and as such, his work became qualified as "Canadian content," so for the CTL he recorded the album Reggae Magic, which launched the hit 'Wish Bone." During the mid-'70, Mittoo also traveled to England to record a series of LPs with Bunny Lee; during the next decade, he worked regularly with Sugar Minott as well. In 1989, Mittoo joined the reunited Skatalites, but health problems soon forced him to bow out; he died of cancer on December 16, 1990. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi 01.
