  1. Artist: Jongnic Bontemps Title: College Behind Bars (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for the Series) Year Of Release: 2020 Label: Bontemps Per Minute Music, Inc. Genre: Soundtrack Quality: FLAC (tracks) Total Time: 33:03 Total Size: 137 MB Jongnic "JB" Bontemps is a uniquely modern film composer, harmonizing a classical education with his rich tech background. As a maestro of Silicon Valley he wrote everything from the hip-hop infused score for the Tribeca-favorite documentary United Skates, to rousing additional music for the acclaimed film Creed II directed by Steven Caple Jr. He became the go-to composer for Caple Jr. while scoring his coming-of-age drama The Land, for which he also orchestrated the song "This Bitter Land" performed by Nas and Erykah Badu. Born in Brooklyn, JB learned the piano and soaked up his gospel and jazz surroundings. He studied music at Yale and later found himself at the heart of the tech industry as a software developer and entrepreneur after selling his startup to HP. He thrived there for several years, but eventually decided to pursue his deeper passion and jumped head-first into the film scoring program at USC and the Sundance Film Music Lab. He apprenticed as a programmer for numerous A-list Hollywood composers before breaking out on his own. "Film music has to tell a story without words," JB says. "Its job is to add depth and dimension to the images and words presented on screen. That's what attracted me to the medium; the opportunity to really express emotion with music alone." Tracklist: 01. Straight Ahead (2:51) AllMusic Review by Jason Elias 1973 was an extremely busy year for Brown. Not only did he continue to release two-plus albums a year, he was also producing and writing for the J.B.'s, plus other acts. During the early '70s Brown was still doing great work, but not much of it shows up here. While the earlier Black Caesar soundtrack found Brown engaged enough to offer great tracks, particularly, "The Boss" and "Down and Out in New York City," this one, also a soundtrack, finds him preoccupied. The swaggering and slick title track kicks things off here. "Trying to Get Over" and "Big Strong" both fall into the traps of bad movie music. Since an album of Brown doing chase themes seems horrifying, Slaughter's Big Rip Off does offer more. Throughout this effort he recycles some of his classic tracks; the oddly titled "Happy for the Poor" is actually a Latinized version of the J.B.'s 1971 single, "Gimme Some More." He goes back even further for his own 1970 classic, "Brother Rapp," which makes an appearance and has the "live" crowd removed. While it's unclear why he would resort to such odd song choices, he had one more shocker in store. "Sexy, Sexy, Sexy" uses the exact backing track from his 1967 hit "Money Won't Change You," with new vocals and lyrics on top. The sad part is that it works too well. While Slaughter's Big Rip Off proved that he wasn't going to be a soundtrack innovator, the idea of Brown in the film-scoring business has its own appeal. Marketed by Rhino Entertainment, a Warner Music Group Company. This Dave Grusin-penned soundtrack album (which features Grusin amidst an orchestra) is one of those charming delights that make a fascination with soundtrack albums a worthwhile pursuit. Grusin here takes a straight-faced approach to the satire of the movie, providing a charming score infused with a traditional New York feel. He spends a lot of time defining themes with strings and woodwinds, eschewing brass and percussion most of the time -- giving the brief "Master of the Universe" and "Concorde" cues (building out from a fanfare theme) an additional punch. In other places, the cues match their visual basis -- "Bronx Exit" mines a bass-propelled funk groove, for example. There's a certain amount of repetitiveness involved in the music, of course, but it's really not a problem with this particular album because of the shifting styles and directions. It's almost unfailing in its charm and quality, and there isn't a song anywhere in sight. The music has a crafty wit that's endearing, and that's much of the result of the quality and craftmanship involved. Grusin takes his underscoring very seriously indeed, and his attention to detail and desire for good music works very much to the benefit of Bonfire of the Vanities. Besides, the "Master of the Universe" theme is one of those great big brassy fanfares that represent what's great about classic movie music. © Steven McDonald /TiVo Download links: [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]

(Version Instrumentale) (01:58) In the wake of the boxed-set film Serge Gainsbourg, this new Gainsbourg in opus the listen to the cinema! collection is the result of a discovery as exciting as it was providential: the unearthing of the full master-tapes of the Pasha. In 1968 this dry, shattering thriller from Georges Lautner consolidated the relationship between Jean Gabin and Serge Gainsbourg. For this "Gabin of revenge" (as the ads proclaimed), Gainsbourg and his accomplice Michel Colombier put together a historic Requiem pour un con (Requiem for a Jerk) with an exclusively rhythmical accompaniment which fitted perfectly into the rest of the score, with dancing the jerk, batacudas and other instrumental refrains from this famous Requiem. Rarely had an original score by Gainsbourg and Colombier come so close to trance. Its impact went beyond the screen even in introducing Pépé le Moko to the modern age. In addition, this set contains two other rare scores composed by the great Serge with Colombier before they tackled Le Pacha: the TV-series entitled Vidocq and the sparkling comedy "yé-yé" How do you find my sister?, where twists and Madisons enter the film like an intravenous drip. A vital album for all lovers of the long-lasting relationship between The Seventh Art and the man they called (affectionately) 'cabbage head'. 12. Let's Spend the Night Together (3:09) 13. Suffragette City (3:03) 14. White Light/White Heat (3:55) 15. Rock 'n' Roll Suicide (4:36) After performing his second-to-last selection, "White Light/White Heat," a tune by Lou Reed, the songwriter who most influenced Ziggy Stardust, David Bowie's enduring and indelible persona, Bowie dropped this little nugget on his fans (and bandmates): "Not only is it the last show of the tour, but it's the last show that we'll ever do. Thank you." He then went into a magnificent version of "Rock & Roll Suicide," a song that gives a glimpse of where Bowie could have gone, not to suicide, but to the style of rock & roll that a long-term band can provide. Had Bowie kept the Spiders from Mars together, unique flashes like the version of "Let's Spend the Night Together" or the striking "All the Young Dudes would have continued, a tight little rock & roll band providing a balance that dissipated when the artist branched out on his own. The other unnerving thing about this double-LP soundtrack of a concert taped in 1973 and finally released in 1982 is that there are bootlegs which have more to offer sonically. The thin recording is shameful: don't expect Pink Floyd's Delicate Sound of Thunder or even the Rolling Stones' wonderfully sludgy "Get Your Ya Ya's Out." The remix of this only official live album from the Ziggy Stardust shows is dreadful. Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture doesn't have the electric excitement of the Live in Santa Monica '72 boot, and that's the fault of the remix by Mike Moran, Bruce Tergeson, Tony Visconti, and Bowie. Another bootleg, David Bowie with the Spiders from Mars, London, July 3, 1973, is the exact same Ziggy performance, but it comes across better, much better. According to Pimm Jal de la Parra's book David Bowie: The Concert Tapes, the bootleg was issued from the ABC TV 1974 broadcast. The bootleg also has "Jean Genie and "Love Me Do," which feature Jeff Beck on guitar, Beck's performances being absent from the official RCA soundtrack release. The shame of it all is that this double disc was released after David Live and Stage, and while the upside is it makes for a rare, three double-live sets from one performer, the downside is that the best of those three albums has the worst mix on official record. Also, had RCA released the October 1, 1972 Boston Music Hall show -- which was brilliant, despite Bowie having a cold that night -- or this July 3, 1973 London Hammersmith Odeon program back in the day, it could have had an enormous effect on Bowie's career. At that point in time, the fans wanted more Ziggy, and the timing of this release only shows how important it is to get the material out while it's hot. Just ask Peter Frampton, Bob Seger, and the J. Geils Band, who solidified their audiences with double-live sets at crucial points in their careers. Nonetheless, everything here is essential David Bowie; it is a great performance, and you definitely need it for your Bowie collection. The only thing better would be Lou Reed himself finally releasing the September 1973 first gig of his Rock 'n' Roll Animal Band, which was, as they say, the real thing. Magnet - The Wicker Man (2005)

Artist: Magnet Title: The Wicker Man Year Of Release: 2005 Label: Silva Screen Records Genre: Soundtrack, Folk Quality: FLAC (tracks) Total Time: 39:38 Total Size: 185 MB Against all odds, one of the most talked about soundtracks in movie history rose to the surface in 2002. Believed for years to be lost, destroyed or even buried deep beneath a motorway, this disc contains Paul Giovanni's original music to The Wicker Man. These historic recordings had, up until then, only been heard by a select few. Based on the themes of fertile pre-Christian practices of pagan Britain, The Wicker Man did not follow the predictable formula of 1960's British horror movies. The equally non-formulaic music score was provided by talented songwriter Paul Giovanni, and his assistant Gary Carpenter. With only six weeks allotted to write, research and record the soundtrack, Paul draws on the rich traditions of Celtic music to present a brilliant collection of eclectic folk songs underpinned with aeons-old verse. The first 8 tracks are the stereo masters which would have been the soundtrack to The Wicker Man that Paul Giovanni originally intended for album release, which ultimately never happened because of the film's troubled history. The following three tracks were recorded for the film and used for playback purposes on set but only exist in mono versions. These have been digitally restored and enhanced for CD release. The balance of the tracks have been compiled from various sources (with occasional sound effects) and present elements of the background score to the film to give a more complete representation of this unique score. Born Nadia Mladjao in 1979 in the Comoros Islands, off the southeast coast of Africa, she grew up in France, where she initially started out as a successful high jumper before being signed by the Ford Models Europe Agency. After several years of traveling around the world, including a six-year stint in the U.S., she returned to France to pursue her lifelong ambition of becoming a singer. Inspired by the likes of Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Tracy Chapman, she began performing a blend of acoustic folk and soulful blues under the guise of Imany (Swahili for "hope") in various Parisian nightclubs and jazz bars, before releasing her debut EP, Acoustic Sessions. After supporting Ben l'Oncle Soul and Angie Stone on their European tours, she worked with producer Malick N'Diaye (Ayo) on her first album, The Shape of a Broken Heart, which was released to critical acclaim in 2011. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi Tracklist: 01. He began playing and writing music at 9. Then, at age 17, he started composing for theatre and dance companies. Shortly thereafter, Andrea was given the Assistant Director position on Roberto Benigni's film with Tom Waits: The tiger and the snow. In 2005, he wrote the soundtrack for two of Jean Vigo's silent films, "A propos de Nice" and "Taris". That project led to a tour including live performances while the film played on a screen in the background, just as in times past. Andrea began scoring movies after. Highlights of his educational experience were studying under the Sicilian pianist Andrea Alberti and the American composer Richard Trythall. Farri is a pianist who also likes to play analog keyboards and program digital sounds. His style is a mix between classic orchestra and electronics, the logical product of the 80s generation. Andrea works also as a songwriter for many European and American artists, in and out of the film industry. In 2013 the italian paper "La Repubblica" named Andrea as one of the top italian composers. With the movie Latin Lover (2015) by Cristina Comencini, Andrea won the Italian Golden Globe for the best original score. He developed an interest in orchestral music early on, through practice with various ensembles, but also through listening to and reading numerous works. However, it is by writing music for a school show at the age of 15 that he realizes his passion for composition, a strong, visceral passion that will never let him go. He tries to escape this by following a director training course at the IAD (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium), from which he graduated in 2003 with the short film 35mm "I hate music ! ". and a thesis on film music! During all this time, music never lets go of him, since he composes the music for his own fiction, and also works for documentaries, short films, television soundscapes, a play and various classical plays. At the end of his cinema studies, he left Belgium to study at the Ecole Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot (Paris, France), from which he graduated unanimously with the jury's congratulations. He also broadens his knowledge by taking a course in electroacoustic composition at the GRM. After composing some forty short films, he signed his first professional long format in 2006 with the music of the docu-fiction "Paris 2011 - La Grande Inondation" (Bruno Victor-Pujebet); he will follow several documentaries such as "Superpouvoirs de la Taupe" (Pierre Bressiant),"Lascaux le Ciel des Premiers Hommes" (Stéphane Begoin) and some episodes of the " At the end of 2007, he met the cinema by composing and orchestrating most of the music for Luc Jacquet's film "Le Renard et l' enfant" (2.5 million admissions). His second feature film as a composer,"Min Ye" by Souleymane Cissé, is presented in Official Selection at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival (out of competition). He also composes the music for Julien Serie's TV movie "Facteur Chance" for TF1. He has also signed the music of "Alésia le Rêve d' un Roi Nu", permanently presented at the MuséoParc Alésia, as well as the music of the new Battle of Fromelles Museum. Member of the jury at the Aubagne International Film Festival in 2014, he is also Artistic Director of the "Musicales Guillaume Lekeu", Festival taking place in Verviers in September. In 2015 he created a film music composition class at the IMEP (Namur, Belgium) where he now teaches in parallel to his activities as a composer. 2018 will mark his return to cinema with the music of "Un jour ça ira" by Stan and Edouard Zambeaux. 25. Artist: Ameel Brecht Title: Ghost Tropic (Bande originale du film) Year Of Release: 2020 Label: Hands in the Dark Records Genre: Soundtrack Quality: MP3 320 kbps; FLAC (tracks) Total Time: 32:23 Total Size: 75; 124 MB Ghost Tropic is first and foremost the name of the third feature from acclaimed Belgian writer-director Bas Devos. The film tells the story of Khadija, a middle-aged cleaner who has no other option but to walk home through Brussels on a cold night after falling asleep on the last train. The journey is a reflection on motherhood and expectations, pride and unknown struggles, stories of the ghostly magic of a lonely night in a big city, of the kindness of strangers and the hurt felt seeing the vulnerability of someone you love. Brecht Ameel, from the band Razen, uses his classical guitar training and his experience with various string instruments to craft a beautiful soundtrack of minimal ambient acoustic music. The Belgian musician's intention was to create music that would be a warm blanket for the nocturnal odyssey of Khadija. A melody and rhythm to accompany her walk through the cold night, a sort of guiding light. Ghost Tropic was premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and is set to be released on 1st January 2020. The accompanying soundtrack recording is out 2 days later via Hands in the Dark in a limited edition of 300 copies. 01. Ameel Brecht - Khadija's Theme 1 (3:52) 02.
