01. 9. Artist: Los Ángeles azules Title: Esto Sí Es Cumbia Year Of Release: 2018 Label: Disa, LLC Genre: World, Cumbia, pop Quality: MP3 320 kbps; FLAC (tracks+.cue+.log); 24-bit/48.00 kHz FLAC Total Time: 37:21 min Total Size: 87; 260; 480 MB Mexican group Los Ángeles Azules were formed in the early '80s by brothers Elías, José, and Jorge Mejía Avante. Playing a Latin style known as onda grupera, the band became a chart-topping act after issuing Inolvidables in 1996, soon achieving platinum status in Argentina, where they successfully performed live in 1998. Later, singer Carlos Becíes decided to leave the group, forming his own band called Los Ángeles de Charly. In 2001, Los Ángeles Azules were nominated to the Billboard Latin Music Awards; that same year, they toured the U.S. to celebrate their 20th anniversary and released Historia Musical, which peaked at number two on the Latin albums chart and hit number 161 in the Top 200. In 2002, the group introduced audiences to Becíes' replacement, singer Erick de la Peña, via the charting single "Por el Amor a Mi Madre," from the album Alas al Mundo. The full-length peaked at number six on the Latin albums chart and hit number three on the regional Mexican albums list. A live album and two compilations followed over the next two years, each placing on the charts. Though Los Ángeles Azules drew large audiences wherever they played, their next studio offering, 2004's Nunca Te Olvidaré, didn't resonate as well and peaked at number 49 on the Latin albums chart. They continued to tour, playing soccer stadiums in Mexico and South America, and even at Yankee Stadium. When they reentered the studio in 2006, they recorded their first all-covers disc at the suggestion of Disa. Because of the similarity in pitch and timbre of de la Peña's voice to Juan Gabriel's, they cut ten of his songs for the album Interpretan Éxitos de Juan Gabriel. It was their last album for Disa. More personnel changes occurred and the band signed with Discos Musart/Balboa Records. Their debut, Tu Juguete, was issued in 2008; two singles followed, but neither the album nor its track picks charted. The band, citing lack of promotion, left Discos Musart immediately thereafter. They toured the United States and Argentina, and the South American nation became a second home for Los Ángeles Azules due to the popularity of their particular style of cumbia. In 2009, they were invited to perform at the first El Paraíso de la Cumbia, where they shared a stage with Mexican Institute of Sound (Camilo Lara) and Argentina's El Hijo de la Cumbia. The meeting with Lara would prove fateful. Without a label, Los Ángeles Azules continued to tour, but found inroads to the music industry difficult given its changing nature, with narcocorridos, hip-hop, merengue, and pop emerging as dominant forms. The group cut the independently released album A Ritmo de Cumbia in 2012 for the production and distribution label Casete Mexico, but given limited distribution and promotion, it didn't sell. Los Ángeles Azules refused to surrender, though they probably felt like it. In 2013 they were invited to play the Vive Latino festival. That performance proved a rousing success, and a reversal of their (mis)fortunes. They were signed by the Sony-distributed OCESA Seitrack. The label enlisted Lara and Toy Selectah to produce a new album. Entitled Cómo Te Voy a Olvidar, it showcased Los Ángeles Azules re-recording their hits in duet with guest vocalists including Carla Morrison, Lila Downs, Ximena Sariñana, and many more. A television program called Cumbia Fuzion followed, which featured the group in performance backed by the Mexico City Symphony Orchestra. The previous album was re-released as Cómo Te Voy a Olvidar Edición de Super Lujo and included a bonus disc with the symphony performance. It eventually landed at number five on the regional Mexican albums charts. Later that year, the band went to Cuba to record, with Lara and Toy Selectah co-producing. They released Viernes Cultural. Its title track single featured Haydée Milanés in duet. Other guest vocalists included Gilberto Santa Rosa, Gustavo Parisi, and Banda Bastón. Its success in the Caribbean and Mexico, and throughout Latin America, offered them an opportunity to perform in Cuba and tour with its national symphony. Various American dates were booked and recorded as Los Ángeles Azules re-signed with Disa. The album De Plaza en Plaza: Cumbia Sinfonica was issued in September 2016, debuting at number 12 on the Hot Latin Albums chart in October. The group's compilation album, Vision 20.20 Exiitos, arrived in 2018. Tracklist: 01. Los Angeles Azules - Perdón, Perdón (3:01) 02. Los Angeles Azules - Nunca Es Suficiente (4:26) 03. Ozuna - Odisea (2017)

Artist: Ozuna Title: Odisea Year Of Release: 2017 Label: Vp Records Genre: Reggae, Latin, World Quality: FLAC (tracks+.cue+.log) Total Time: 57:57 min Total Size: 379 MB Odisea finds Ozuna on a late-night creep, laying down a gently bumping soundtrack for after-parties around the globe. It's a collection of slow jams that glide by like dreamy R&B hits, except these beats are built from the raw throb of Latin trap ("Una Flor") and the rattling thump of reggaeton ("Pide Lo Que Tú Quieras"). Ozuna drops softly murmured soul hooks and bars that bristle with bad-boy charm, all while the synths twinkle and the drums patter like a music box's lullaby. This CD reissue brings back the 12 songs originally on the Riverside LP Bossa Nova Pelos Passaros plus six of the 11 tunes from Once More! Bossa Nova. Byrd and his trio (which included bassist Keter Betts and drummer Bill Reichenbach) are augmented on some selections by strings, extra percussion, plus horns. In reality the background musicians are not needed since Byrd was at the top of his form in those days. Unlike some of his earlier sets, these pretty and melodic recordings are very concise (lacking a sense of adventure), clocking in between one-and-a-half and three-and-a-half minutes, and looking toward the guitarist's later Columbia dates. Highlights include "Meditation," "O Barquinho," "Desafinado," "Bim Bom," "O Passaro" and "Limehouse Blues." ~ Scott Yanow Download links: [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]

Angela Leiva - La Reina (2019)

22. Artist: Angela Maria Title: Incomparavel Year Of Release: 1962 / 2019 Label: RevOla Records Genre: Jazz, Latin Quality: FLAC (tracks) [44.1kHz/24bit] Total Time: 36:41 Total Size: 380 / 187 MB Tracklist: 01 Garota Solitária (Remastered) 02 O Grande Remédio (Remastered) 03 Preciso De Uma Companhia (Remastered) 04 Despejo Da Saudade (Remastered) 05 Serenata Do Assobiador (Remastered) 06 Ba-La-La-Ô (Remastered) 07 Meu Ex-Amor (Remastered) 08 Matemática Do Samba (Remastered) 09 Odeio-Te, Meu Amor (Remastered) 10 Cantiga De Mandar Embora (Remastered) 11 Incoerência (Remastered) 12 Não Me Perguntes (Remastered) During the '50s, Ângela Maria was the most popular singer in Brazil, certified by IBOPE, a renowned institute dedicated to opinion research. Owner of a privileged voice and personal style of interpretation, Maria is regarded by many as the best singer of all time in that country, and successive musical movements such as bossa nova, Tropicália, and Jovem Guarda never succeeded in disturbing her career. The daughter of a Protestant minister, she sang in church choirs from her childhood. She worked as a weaver, as her family was against her artistic wishes. Around 1947, she began to perform in radio, in novice shows like Pescando Estrelas (Rádio Clube do Brasil), Hora do Pato (Rádio Nacional), and in Ary Barroso's show on Rádio Tupi. Always using the pseudonym Ângela Maria (which occulted her performances from her strict family), she performed as an amateur in the famous Trem da Alegria (by Lamartine Babo, Iara Sales, and Héber Bôscoli) on Rádio Nacional. The listeners' good reception encouraged her to abandon her family and to try the career of singer. In 1948, she became the crooner of the Dancing Avenida, one of the most important gafieiras of Rio. Soon, she was hired by Rádio Mayrink Veiga. Her first recording came in 1951, with "Sou Feliz" (Augusto Mesquita/Ciro Monteiro) and "Quando Alguém Vai Embora" (Ciro Monteiro/Dias Cruz), for Victor. "Não Tenho Você," by then-unknown composers Paulo Marques and Ari Monteiro, recorded in the next year, was her first hit. During that time, she was a big star at Rádio Nacional and Rádio Mayrink Veiga, where she had her own show, A Princesa Canta (the Princess Sings). One of her fans, President Getúlio Vargas, affectionately called her Sapoti. In 1963, she toured Portugal and Africa, singing for Portuguese soldiers. In 1979, she participated (with João da Baiana) in the documentary Maxixe, a Dança Perdida (Alex Viany). One of her latest successes was a show shared with Cauby Peixoto, Canta Brasil, which was recorded and released by RCA/BMG as Ângela e Cauby ao Vivo. ~ Alvaro Neder Download links: [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]
