2. Roxy Music - Manifesto 1979 (2015) 96-24 Country: UK Genre: Rock,Pop Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [96 kHz/24 bit] Time: 43:11 Full Size: 887.59 MB Returning to action after four years of solo projects, Roxy Music redefined its sound and agenda on Manifesto. More than ever, Roxy sounds like Bryan Ferry's backing band, as the group strips away its art rock influences, edits out the instrumental interludes in favor of concise pop songs, and adds layers of stylish disco rhythms. Although the songwriting is distressingly inconsistent, there are a number of wonderful moments on the record, particularly in the sighing "Angel Eyes" and the heartbroken "Dance Away." Still, trading sonic adventure for lush, accessible disco-pop isn't entirely satisfactory, even if it is momentarily seductive. © Stephen Thomas Erlewine /TiVo Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/316aa5a7-8c01-11ec-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e
 3. George Thorogood & The Destroyers - Maverick 1985 (2021) 192-24 Country: USA Genre: Blues rock, Boogie rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192 kHz/24 bit] Time: 43:35 Full Size: 1.62 GB Maverick is the sixth album by the band George Thorogood and the Destroyers. It was produced by Terry Manning and released in January 1985. Some of its songs are among Thorogood's best-known, including "I Drink Alone" and "Willie and the Hand Jive", the latter being his only single to reach the Billboard Hot 100 chart. George Thorogood is forever consistent and Maverick is more of the blues/rock driving sound the journeyman guitarist is known for. John Lee Hooker's "Crawling King Snake" is what you expect from this crew while "Memphis, Tennessee" bursts at the seams with George's trademark slide and Hank Carter's saxophone. Recorded at the legendary Dimension Sound Studio in July of 1984 on the outskirts of Boston, the earthy sound catches all the band's primal energy from opener "Gear Jammer" to the wailing sax of "Long Gone." There are only four originals from Thorogood, the album chock full of Johnny Otis, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, John Lee Hooker and others. It is territory that the group has covered on pretty much every previous record, but it's done with the artistic passion that makes it real. The vocal on "What a Price" full of torment, it's a nice contrast to the rocking numbers. © Joe Viglione /TiVo Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/ef4cdc08-c2d3-11ec-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e

 6. David Bowie - Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) (1980) [2017] 192-24 Country: UK Genre: Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192 kHz/24 bit] Time: 45:43 Full Size: 1.84 GB David Bowie returned to relatively conventional rock & roll with Scary Monsters, an album that effectively acts as an encapsulation of all his '70s experiments. Reworking glam rock themes with avant-garde synth flourishes, and reversing the process as well, Bowie creates dense but accessible music throughout Scary Monsters. Though it doesn't have the vision of his other classic records, it wasn't designed to break new ground -- it was created as the culmination of Bowie's experimental genre-shifting of the '70s. As a result, Scary Monsters is Bowie's last great album. While the music isn't far removed from the post-punk of the early '80s, it does sound fresh, hip, and contemporary, which is something Bowie lost over the course of the '80s. [Rykodisc's 1992 reissue includes re-recorded versions of "Space Oddity" and "Panic in Detroit," the Japanese single "Crystal Japan," and the British single "Alabama Song."] © Stephen Thomas Erlewine /TiVo Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/ef60e7f4-c541-11eb-a971-0cc47ac4f47e

 10. Linda Ronstadt - The Sound Of My Voice (2019, Blu-ray) Title: Linda Ronstadt - The Sound Of My Voice Year of release: 2019 Genre: Rock, Musiс, Dokumentation Released: Greenwich Cast: Linda Ronstadt Tracklist: Linda Ronstadt has been an icon for more than 50 years. Her extraordinary vocal range and ambition created unforgettable songs across rock, pop, country, folk ballads, American standards, classic Mexican music and soul. As the most popular female recording artist of the 1970s, Ronstadt filled huge arenas like no one had ever done and produced an astounding eleven platinum albums. Ronstadt was the first artist to top the Pop, Country, and R&B charts simultaneously, she won 10 Grammy® Awards on 26 nominations and attained a level of stardom the Tucson native never could have fathomed. In Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice, Ronstadt is our guide through her early years of singing Mexican canciones with her family; her folk days with the Stone Poneys; and her reign as the "rock queen" of the '70s and early '80s. She was a pioneer for women in the male-dominated music industry; an early advocate for human rights, and had a high-profile romance with California governor Jerry Brown. Ultimately, her incredible voice was lost to Parkinson's disease, but her music and influence remain as timeless as ever. With moving performance footage and appearances by collaborators including Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice celebrates an artist whose desire to share the music she loved made generations of fans fall in love with her - and the sound of her voice. 12. Beth Hart - Better Than Home (Deluxe Edition) 2015 (2022) 88.2-24 Country: USA Genre: Blues,Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [88,2 kHz/24 bit] Time: 56:29 Full Size: 1.01 GB Better Than Home is the seventh solo studio album by American singer-songwriter Beth Hart. Hart's husband and her manager convinced her to work with the production team of Rob Mathes and Michael Stevens, whom she had met when she performed at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012. Hart had worked with Kevin Shirley for her last three albums, but she was persuaded to try a different team and go a different direction. The production team challenged Hart to leave behind the darker themes and to "write more about my joy and what I believe in and what my love is." Hart was pushed to write songs that came from a different source, from when she was happy or having a good time. One song on the album, "Tell Her You Belong to Me", took her a year and a half to write. "Hart explores new realms on Better Than Home, both creatively and production-wise. In addition to balancing sensitive songwriting topics with moments of hope and reflection, Hart also found new producers in Michael Stevens and Rob Mathes, both of whom Hart met after performing at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012. Better Than Home shows Hart moving forward as a musician and songwriter." (Meghan Roos, bluesrockreview.com) "Separating from producer Kevin Shirley for the first time in three records, Beth Hart chose to work with Rob Mathes and Michael Stevens for 2015's Better Than Home. A change in producers helped Hart change direction, letting her depart from the down-and-dirty blues belting she specialized in throughout her time with Shirley, reconnecting slightly to her singer/songwriter beginning while emphasizing deep soul roots. Despite opening with the tight Memphis groove of "Might as Well Smile," most of the album is grandly introspective -- majestic brooding ballads with a clear debt to early Elton John. This cinematic landscape provides a nice contrast to Hart's raw, nervy vocals, accentuating the aching in her delivery. This emotional immediacy compensates for the sometimes elliptical songs, songs that take a little while to settle, but the risks Hart's taken on Better Than Home pay off: this is a distinctive, ambitious record that takes advantage of her natural talents in surprising ways." 14. David Bowie - Aladdin Sane 1973 (2015) 192-24 Country: UK Genre: Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192 kHz/24 bit] Time: 41:46 Full Size: 1.61 GB Ziggy Stardust wrote the blueprint for David Bowie's hard-rocking glam, and Aladdin Sane essentially follows the pattern, for both better and worse. A lighter affair than Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane is actually a stranger album than its predecessor, buoyed by bizarre lounge-jazz flourishes from pianist Mick Garson and a handful of winding, vaguely experimental songs. Bowie abandons his futuristic obsessions to concentrate on the detached cool of New York and London hipsters, as on the compressed rockers "Watch That Man," "Cracked Actor," and "The Jean Genie." Bowie follows the hard stuff with the jazzy, dissonant sprawls of "Lady Grinning Soul," "Aladdin Sane," and "Time," all of which manage to be both campy and avant-garde simultaneously, while the sweepingly cinematic "Drive-In Saturday" is a soaring fusion of sci-fi doo wop and melodramatic teenage glam. He lets his paranoia slip through in the clenched rhythms of "Panic in Detroit," as well as on his oddly clueless cover of "Let's Spend the Night Together." For all the pleasures on Aladdin Sane, there's no distinctive sound or theme to make the album cohesive; it's Bowie riding the wake of Ziggy Stardust, which means there's a wealth of classic material here, but not enough focus to make the album itself a classic. © Stephen Thomas Erlewine /TiVo Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/ef60e7f4-c541-11eb-a971-0cc47ac4f47e

The album's seven songs expertly blended RUSH's intrinsic prowess for channeling its progressive roots into radio-friendly arrangements, a template the band had mastered to a T all throughout its previous album, 1980's deservedly lauded "Permanent Waves". "Moving Pictures" was also the second of many RUSH recording sessions at Le Studio in Morin-Heights, Quebec, which was ultimately nicknamed the trio's own personal Abbey Road recording studio. 22. Tears For Fears - The Tipping Point (Limited edition) (2022) [5.1] 48-24 Country: UK Genre: Synthpop, New Wave, Alternative Rock, Pop Rock Format: FLAC 5.1 (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [48 kHz/24 bit] Time: 42:03 Full Size: 1.25 GB For their first album in 18 years, Tears for Fears sound completely revitalized and as beautiful and engaging as ever. Remarkably, it's fueled in part by the 2017 death of Roland Orzabal's wife and partner of many years and his denial about losing her. "I think that when you've been close to someone for decades, they are living within you as well as without," he has said. "And consciously I did not believe she would die, though subconsciously I was, without doubt, preparing for the inevitable, arming myself against the future shock." The title track is shimmering and mysterious, with strident drums and alien beeps but also vocals like a soothing balm. "Winter done, they'll soon be gone/ From this unforgiving place/ To that vague and distant void/ Where the sunlight splits the eye," Orzabal sings of that threshold from life to death. It is heartbreaking, but also hopeful. "Please Be Happy" is incredibly candid-and one of their prettiest tracks: "These days it's like a wave is breaking over you/ Dragging you in with the undertow/ If you lay among the graves you will see other ghosts." And "No Small Thing," about facing the heartbreak of losing your love, is a stunner. Stripped-back acoustic guitar builds to the dreamy psychedelia Tears for Fears has always done so well, the whole thing swelling to a bursting-the-seams crescendo by the end. "Long, Long, Long Time" shows how the duo have always been masters of dynamics, its hymn-like organ giving way to a monster chorus; the song also reminds you just how much Sam Smith owes Curt Smith for their angelic style. "Master Plan" giddily dips into the band's longtime love of Sgt. Pepper-era Beatles, and "Break the Man" is catchy jangle pop touched with moody strings. "My Demons," meanwhile, is a nasty piece of work, in the best way (one akin to Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus"), with Orzabal drilling the doomed lyrics: "Why is my name in lights when my name is spelled wrong . People always find you when your cell phone is on." Smith comes in to sweeten up the chorus, but he sounds thrillingly stretched to his limits as the rhythm gallops like a sweating horse. Put The Tipping Point on the shelf next to Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking for times of crisis. © Shelly Ridenour/Qobuz Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/81bedadf-9582-11ec-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e

 25. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Unlimited Love (2022) 96-24 Country: USA Genre: Alternative Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [96 kHz/24 bit] Time: 01:13:04 Full Size: 1.76 GB The twelfth album from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Unlimited Love, is notable for several reasons: Next year, the band will have been around for 40 years; it's their first since 2009 with on-again, off-again guitarist John Frusciante; and they've returned to producer Rick Rubin, who helmed their 1991 commercial breakthrough Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The old gang sounds like they're having more fun than ever. "Aquatic Mouth Dance" is at once undeniably RHCP and also like nothing they've done before: With a breezy R&B chorus and a vibrant wash of brass, it's almost an Earth, Wind & Fire song; it's also Flea at his finest, delivering super-funky bass that shows why he's gone from being seen as a party doofus to earning real respect. A wild tribute to 1980s LA nightlife, the song name-drops John Doe, the Misfits, Billy Zoom, "the old Starwood" and the long-closed Cathay club where the band got its start, and even offers a self-referential wink to an old album: "Spilling beer is a good fountain/ Like the milk from a mother's tit." The band is also in a nostalgic mood on loose-limbed "Poster Child," a wah-inflected wordplay buffet: "Melle Mel and Richard Hell/ Were dancing at the Taco Bell/ When someone heard a rebel yell . Lizzy looking mighty thin/ The Thompsons had another twin . Steve Miller and Duran Duran/ A joker dancing in the sand." With its "ayo-ayo" chorus, "One Way Traffic" already feels like classic RHCP, as Anthony Kiedis laments his friends getting older and settling down: "Now they read them catalogs." (His escape? Driving down the PCH, music turned up, to a killer surf spot.) There are heavy moments-"These Are the Ways" is pure grunge; "Here Ever After" feels ominous; and "The Heavy Wing" lives up to its name with eye-watering guitar-and dreamy ones that showcase Frusciante's fluid touch (ballad "Not the One," the Steely Dan chill of "Let 'Em Cry," the slip-and-slide R&B of "She's a Lover"). There's even a song that does both, as "Whatchu Thinkin'" flies from pretty, slightly psyched-out melody to blissed-out jam. The band is also, after all these years, still able to evolve and surprise. "Bastards of Light" gets almost country before it crests in a grunge breakdown; "White Braids & Pillow Chair" is a slice of experimental weirdness, weaving in bits of gospel and rumbling Western scores. (The verdict is still out on Kiedis' Hiberno-meets-pirate affectation on the stomper "Black Summer.") This is much, much more than a legacy band turning out the same old stuff. © Shelly Ridenour/Qobuz Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/7d3452b9-28ea-11ec-a971-0cc47ac4f47e
